Husker Football Special Enforcement Stats

September 25, 2017 (lincoln, Neb.)  — The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) Headquarters
Troop – Lincoln has completed the first month of special enforcement efforts surrounding Husker
home football games.

During the first three games of the Nebraska home football schedule, Troopers have been on the road
and in the air with efforts designed to ease traffic congestion and reduce the potential for serious
injury and fatality crashes.

Troopers removed one driver from the road for Driving Under the Influence and issued citations for
Speeding (38), Open Container (1), and No Seat Belt (4). Troopers also assisted three motorists in
need of help.

“We’ve had a few crashes that slowed traffic during the first three gamedays of the season,” said
Captain Lance Rogers, Commander Troop H – Lincoln. “With more traffic on the road than usual, we
encourage drivers to increase their following distance and be prepared to stop should congestion

The special enforcement was made possible thanks in part to a grant for $3,285 from the Nebraska
Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office (NDOT-HSO).

NSP will continue traffic operations for the next four Husker home games, including radio traffic
reports on the Husker Sports Network before and after the game with assistance from the NSP
Aviation Support Division.

Anyone who observes a reckless driver or anyone in need of non-emergency roadside assistance can
call the Nebraska State Patrol Highway Helpline, when safe to do so, at *55 from their cell phone or
800-525-5555 from any landline. Motorists should report emergencies to 911.
